To help alleviate the psychological pressure of our teachers and students as well as activate their intrinsic motivation for growth, our school specially invited Ms. Lu Heli from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University to give a keynote lecture on the theme of "Psychological Empowerment: Relieving Stress and Activating Intrinsic Motivation" on the afternoon of December 22, 2025. More than 80 teachers and students gathered online to embark on a journey of psychological transformation from passive stress-bearing to active control.
At the beginning of the lecture, Ms. Lu intuitively analyzed the essence and duality of stress through a fun stress test and vivid analogies. She pointed out that stress is not a flood or a ferocious beast; moderate stress, like the tension on a violin string, can stimulate optimal performance, while chronic stress is the root cause of physical and mental exhaustion, which stems from the "imbalance between subjective needs and coping resources". Subsequently, she analyzed the sources of stress from three dimensions in terms of external environment and requirements, personal internal conflicts, and interpersonal relationships and social roles, allowing online listeners to clearly understand the causes of their own stress.
In the interpretation of intrinsic motivation, Ms. Lu, citing the example of Madame Curie, elucidated the core characteristics of intrinsic motivation as "stemming from inner, autonomous and spontaneous, and enduring and resilient". She delved into the three core theories of autonomy, belongingness, and competence. She emphasized that the persistence, happiness, and creativity brought by intrinsic motivation are important psychological cornerstones for resisting stress. Regarding stress management and intrinsic motivation activation, Ms. Lu Heli also shared scientific and practical methods, proposing pathways such as searching intrinsic interests, setting SMART goals, cultivating a sense of autonomous control, and establishing a positive feedback mechanism to activate the intrinsic drive for continuous growth.
During the interactive Q&A session at the end of the forum, Ms. Lu shared her own opinions on the questions raised by the audience, including exam pressure and self-depletion, providing personalized advice. The audience expressed that the forum was informative, not only clarifying misunderstandings about stress, but also equipping them with practical stress-relieving and empowering techniques. This forum deeply integrated psychological science knowledge with practical methods, helping teachers and students master core skills in stress management as well as guiding audience to discover their inner motivation, thereby fostering a positive and resilient campus atmosphere.
