The Teaching and Research Section of Basic Nursing boasts a faculty team with a rational age and professional title structure, as well as rich teaching and practical experience. It is mainly responsible for the construction and development of basic nursing education, along with daily teaching work. At present, the section has three full-time teachers: Feng Qiong (Director of the Teaching and Research Section), Liu Meng, and Jia Shulei. Among the full-time teachers, 100% hold master's degrees, and those with intermediate and senior professional titles account for 90%. With a well-proportioned age structure, it is a dynamic faculty team.
This section mainly undertakes a number of professional basic courses including Basic Nursing Science Ⅰ, Basic Nursing Science Ⅱ, Basic Nursing Science Experiment Ⅰ, Basic Nursing Science Experiment Ⅱ, and Introduction to Nursing, as well as the core professional course Nursing English. All the courses offered have been established as online courses on the Network Teaching Platform of Nanchang University. The teachers in the team are rigorous in scholarship, highly responsible, solid in professional theoretical foundation, proficient in professional skills, with remarkable teaching effects, and their teaching has won high praise from students.
The teachers in the team possess high-level theoretical research capabilities and rich practical experience. They have published many professional academic papers in core journals at home and abroad, and participated in compiling several national planning textbooks for nursing majors in institutions of higher learning during the "12th Five-Year Plan" period. They have presided over or participated in a number of teaching reform projects at the university level of Nanchang University, teaching reform projects of the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education, scientific research projects of the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Health, as well as one Jiangxi Provincial Natural Science Foundation project. This outstanding professional teaching team provides strong faculty support for better cultivating the professional qualities of nursing students.
In recent years, we have adopted various approaches and measures to strengthen the construction of the faculty team. For instance, we have selected teachers to pursue further studies at major universities across the country and receive advanced vocational education and training at home and abroad; sent teachers to attend various training courses; arranged teachers to engage in clinical practice in affiliated hospitals. Through cooperation with affiliated hospitals, we have cultivated and improved teachers' practical teaching ability, social service ability and social resource integration ability. We attach great importance to the training of young teachers, organize them to conduct collective lesson preparation, and invite university teaching supervisors and college leaders to evaluate the quality of classroom teaching, so as to promote the improvement of young teachers' teaching competence. In addition, teachers of this section also actively participate in various academic conferences inside and outside the university, which effectively promotes and improves their professional proficiency.
This Teaching and Research Section actively promotes a teaching model integrated with social practice, taking the combination of basic nursing education and clinical nursing practice as an important entry point for the reform of the professional talent training model, and guides the reform of curriculum setting, teaching content and teaching methods. We emphasize the cultivation of students' practical operation ability, focus on the practicality, openness and professionalism of the teaching process, continuously strengthen cooperation with affiliated hospitals, open basic nursing experimental training and carry out clinical practice, so as to further enhance the professional competence of nursing students.
